Sunrise Avenue

ESEK (The Finnish Performing Music Promotion Centre) supports national performing artists and musicians. The promotional activities are largely funded using funds collected from the levy on private copying. One of the objects under this promotional activity is Finnish band Sunrise Avenue. They have had for example fund support making music video.

Sunrise Avenue released their debut album “On The Way To Wonderland” in a year 2006 and rapidly came familiar to European and Finnish music listeners and radio stations, hitting top charts in various countries, incl. Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Austria and Finland. Their major hit single was “Fairytale gone bad”, and other successful song “Choose to be me” was selected as main theme in German Big Brother 2008.

Sunrise Avenue has toured around Europe and by this increased media’s attraction towards them. Latest tour was in Europe where they also recorded their third album, acoustic live album “Acoustic tour 2010”.
Bands bassist Raul Ruutu told us how latest gigs went and what plans there are for the band and Raul himself in summer.

“On March we played 19 acoustic-spirited gigs in Europe, including countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland. All the gigs we recorded and we’ll release an album this week (2nd June, 2010). We played places such as old wine-cellar in town called Rödelsee and in Köln the concert place was an old church (still running ceremonies).
In summer we have some gigs but mainly my free-time goes playing golf. Some amount of sport activities but also just chilling and enjoying by doing nothing.”

Raul also told how the band keeps them in shape when touring. Obviously keeping a good condition is important for all of them. This is carried out by doing common fitness circuits and also badminton net is seen around the soundcheck areas. This is how everything is kept on a professional level also in physical parts.
